-Gregg Gilligan gave his update. The field has been started. The fence will be up the beginning of next week, and the kids will get back outside. We are collecting coats for a Coat Drive which is sponsored by Anton’s Cleaners. The Redistricting Committee has started, they had their first public meeting. At last week’s School Committee Meeting he outlined an improvement plan for Thomson. He would like the School Council to help further develop the plan, then it will be finalized at the Faculty Meeting on Dec. 4th.
Kelly Long gave an update on the Superintendent Search Committee. They have picked six candidates to interview. The interviews will take place next week. Then the Committee will put forth their top candidates to the School Committee. Then the candidates will go through public interviews with the School Committee in December. The plan is to have an offer made by the beginning of the year.
-Laurie Burzlaff spoke about North Andover CAM. All schools have access to all of their equipment, to record events. We need to provide our own people to run the equipment. They are currently looking for volunteers to learn how to use it.
-Laurie Burzlaff showed the entries that were made by the kids at Thomson, to be the drawing used for our thank-you cards. The cards will go out to all businesses who donated for the fair. There were only 3 entries, so the decision was made to use all three.
-Sherrie Cashman gave an update on the Holiday Fair. Donations are down this year and we also have less vendors than last year. A schedule of volunteers for the fair is being finalized.
-Sherrie Cashman mentioned that the door fell off the shed which we use to store all the PTO supplies. She spoke with a parent who is willing to try to fix it for us.
-Laurie Burzlaff gave an update on the field. It is already over budget! The baseball diamond isn’t going to be done, the entire field will be grass. We are checking with North Andover Little League to see if they will fund it. The field will be closed until the end of the summer. Hydro-seed will be done now, and it will grow in the Spring. It is guaranteed to grow. To properly maintain the field on a yearly basis it will cost $800. We will vote next year to build it into the PTO budget.
-Fudrucker’s is offering a reading program incentive for kids. They will send us bookmarks. Kids will need to read six books, then their teacher will give them a Gift Certificate for a kids meal. The teachers will decide if this is a program they want to use.
-Fun Passes. Order forms will be going home in the kids backpacks.
-Flourishes. Thurs. Dec. 4th, they will donate 20% of their proceeds to the Thomson School.
-Laurie Fichera gave an update on Gennevie. Last year we made $5,300 this year we made $4,700.
-School dances. First date for ticket sales will be Dec. 13th.
-Next meeting will be December 10th.
